A chat assistant that only says what your site says.
Most site chatbots will invent a price or an opening time if you ask the right way. This one drafts an answer with an open model, then code checks every number and every word in it against your own page. If a check fails, the customer sees your page's exact words or your phone number instead.
Try it on Juniper Street Bakery, a bakery made up for this demo. Its whole site is in the bakery panel next to the chat; the assistant knows nothing else.
How it works
- Find. Code picks up to three parts of the site that match the question. If nothing matches, the model is not asked at all and the customer gets your phone number.
- Draft. An open-weight model (Gemma 4 E2B or Qwen 3.5 2B) runs in the browser, reads only those parts and writes a short answer, plus the sentence it took it from.
- Check. Code confirms that sentence really is on the site, that every price, time and number in the answer appears in it ("4 pm" counts as 16:00; "$4" does not count as $4.50), and that every word that carries meaning appears somewhere in what the model was given. "We don't have a loyalty card" fails, because the site never mentions one.
- Show or step back. If the direct answer fails a check, the draft is thrown away and the customer sees the site's own words or your contact details. Extra sentences that fail are cut.
The model runs on the visitor's machine through WebGPU, so questions never leave the page. On a real site the same checks work with a hosted model too.
Test set: 31 questions with known answers, 8 of them not answerable from the site. Gemma 4 E2B's answers, recorded on 15 October 2026, get 29 right with the current checks, and none of the answers shown says anything the site does not. Open the page with #tests to run it yourself.
What the checks do not catch. A wrong yes or no when every word is on the site, or an answer that is true but does not answer the question. In the test set Gemma answered "Is the bakery open on Christmas Day?" with the regular hours. That is why every real setup starts with a test set of the business's own customer questions.
